It is being told that the work on Virar-Alibagh corridor can start a few days after the declaration of Lok Sabha election results. After the construction of this corridor, the Virar-Alibagh journey can be covered in just one and a half hours instead of five hours.
14 renowned companies of the country have shown interest in the construction of the first phase of the corridor. The technical bid for the tender of Virar-Alibagh corridor has been opened. 14 companies have submitted 33 bids for preparing 11 packages of the first phase of the corridor. The 126 km long corridor is to be constructed in two phases. About 98 KM long road is to be constructed in the first phase and about 29 KM long road is to be constructed in the second phase. Due to the implementation of the code of conduct, the further process after the technical bid will be done after the release of the Lok Sabha election results.
Land acquisition work completed in Palghar
According to the MSRDA official, after the release of Lok Sabha election results, the process of financial bid and tender allotment will be completed by the end of June. The field project work is expected to begin by September. The corridor is going to pass through Palghar, Thane and Raigad districts. MSRDC has almost completed the land acquisition work to start the important project of MMR. According to the official, the work of land acquisition in Palghar for the first phase of the project has been almost completed, while the process of land acquisition in Raigarh is going on.
Plan to prepare ring route
The government is working on a plan to prepare a ring route in MMR by preparing the Virar-Alibagh corridor. For this, it has been decided to connect all the ongoing projects of MMR with each other. Under this, other projects including Virar-Alibag Corridor, Atal Setu, Shivdi-Worli Connector, Vasai-Bhayander Bridge, Coastal Road, Versova-Bandra Sea Link and Bandra-Worli Sea Link will be connected.
With the completion of all the projects, it will become possible to have faster and easier access to every part of MMR. The 126 km long corridor will be connected to Mumbai-Ahmedabad, Mumbai-Nashik, Mumbai-Pune Expressway, Mumbai-Goa Highway, Panvel-JNPT and Atal Setu. Let us tell you that the government had prepared the proposal for Virar-Alibagh corridor 11 years ago, but due to some reasons this work was stopped. However, now the work on the corridor is likely to start soon.
