Annual registration for the holy Amarnath Yatra in Hindu religion has started. In such a situation, where to go for registration and how can one apply for it?
Jammu: Advance registration for the annual Amarnath Yatra 2024 has started from Monday. Along with this, a large number of people are reaching the designated bank branches here to obtain travel permits.According to the announcement by Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB), the 52-day pilgrimage to the cave shrine located at an altitude of 3,880 meters in south Kashmir will begin from June 29 and end on August 19. There are two routes for theAmarnath Yatra, the traditional 48 km route via Pahalgam in Anantnag in south Kashmir and the shorter but steeper 14 km Baltal route in Ganderbal district of central Kashmir.
Registration in PNB branches
An official involved in the registration process said, “Advance registration has started in the bank branches . The registration process is being done in 540 branches of Punjab National Bank (PNB) across the country. Officials said that earlier the forms were filled by hand and submitted, but in 2022, the method of filling the forms will be based on Aadhaar authentication. Was adopted. Therefore, the forms will now be filled through computer only. Meanwhile, the PNB branch at Rehari was decorated with flowers to welcome the Amarnath pilgrims, where people were seen standing in queues since morning for registration.

Suman Devi, a resident of Janipur, said, “We want to be a part of the first batch of pilgrims to go on Amarnath Yatra. Our registration has been done. It is a moment of joy for us.” The board has designated a total of 542 bank branches across the country for registration of pilgrims. Registration facility is also available on the board’s website. According to the board that manages the annual pilgrimage, no person below 13 years of age or above 75 years of age and any woman more than 6 weeks pregnant will be registered for the yatra.
