Farmer dhoti was not given entry, government closed mall

70-year-old Fakirappa had gone to the mall with his wife and son to watch a movie at the multiplex. Fakirappa was reportedly wearing a white shirt and ‘panche’ (dhoti). The mall security staff allegedly told her and her son that they would not be allowed inside wearing ‘panches’.

The Karnataka government has closed for seven days a Bengaluru mall that allegedly did not allow entry of a farmer because he was wearing a dhoti and a white shirt. The government on Thursday ordered the mall to be closed for seven days. Shortly after the order came, the action to close the mall started. The incident of allegedly not allowing the farmer to enter the mall has been strongly condemned by all the party members in the Assembly.

The government described the alleged insult to the farmer as an attack on his “dignity and self-respect” and said it would not be tolerated. Urban Development Minister B. Suresh told the House, “I asked the BBMP (Bharat Bengaluru Municipal Corporation) Commissioner what can be done. The government has the authority. “Immediate action will be taken against (GT World) Mall as per law and we will ensure that the mall remains closed for seven days.”

Not allowed because of wearing dhoti

Social Welfare Minister H.C. Mahadevappa said that this incident is condemnable. “Self-respect and dignity is important for every individual, it has been violated and the government will take action,” he said. The incident occurred on Tuesday when 70-year-old Fakirappa, from Haveri district, had gone to the mall with his wife and son to watch a movie at the multiplex. Fakirappa was reportedly wearing a white shirt and ‘panche’ (dhoti). The mall security staff allegedly told her and her son that they would not be allowed inside wearing ‘panches’.

The farmer taught all nine children

The employee told him to “wear trousers.” Earlier, Assembly Speaker UT Khadar raised this issue and asked the government to take action. Congress MLA from Ranibennur Prakash Koliwad said that the farmer is a resident of the village under his constituency. He said, “The farmer has educated all his nine children.

One of his sons is studying MBA here in Bengaluru and the son wanted to take his father to see the mall. The farmer was insulted because of his attire and the mall should be closed.” Leader of Opposition R. Ashok said that such issues have already been discussed in the House, but what was the result. The President or the Government will have to issue some orders, which the bureaucrats must strictly follow.
